Meet the boother

Lap Le

You only have to look at the output from this week’s Pro Boother to know she knows how to rock a photo booth!

With over a decade’s experience behind her, I watch in awe of Lap Le and her team, as they set up, deliver and showcase some amazing photo booth events. The quality of her work always shines through, and we can all learn from her knowledge and expertise.

As you can imagine, she is a very busy woman and I was lucky to get five mins with her, to share some of her knowledge with everyone.

Name: Lap Le
Business Name: LX PIX
How long have you been in business? Over 10 years
What is your favourite booth?  MinBooths !
What is your favourite software? Breeze, almost limitless capabilities. We’ve used it for custom outputs like CMYK, lightpainting, cinemagraphs, and more.

Tell us about the best event you ever did?

All our events are awesome. I like weddings because it’s more intimate.

But we’re a part of alot of different types of events that have been high profile, too. My team probably loves the events where we’re surprised with intimate performances.

I love doing events that have been very custom with outputs. They challenge me and my team. Still capture to video has been my most favorite to configure workflow automation. Cinemagraph.

Your 3 Tips for success in the photo booth industry:

#1 You have to learn the basics of photography.
This applies to whether you’re focusing on great photo captures or just using ipads. Understanding how lighting and cameras work is important for what we do, and will make your events run with way less stress

#2 Charge your worth

Charge enough to have the ability to properly deliver services without having to be cheap with small investments like the cost of paper or cheap out with budget equipment like flashes, software, and pc’s that are essential tools for what we do.

You should have the ability to keep backup of all your gear and also be able to R&D to find the best software, hardware, etc for your company. This also affords you the time to learn your equipment and be prepared for troubleshooting tech, so it’s a win-win.

#3 Choose YOUR target audience
There’s different ways to make money delivering photo booths, figure out what market you want to target, and focus on that.
